IT'S TIME FOR SOME FEATURES!
The first fourteen people to comment on this journal, requesting a slot, will get three of their pieces featured by me. I'll choose the pieces I like best and write a little something about them. In return, you must do your own feature journal, placing me in the first slot, leading to a total of 15 featured deviants.
1.
The Dark Lady, yo Here we have one of her older ones. Meet Ry'en, one of the most interesting characters you'll meet. And dangerous. Seriously, don't make her mad...she will hurt you. Badly. I've always liked this particular piece--Even in '05, the force was strong with this one.
This Is My World Now This is Decorous--another character you do NOT want to mess with. This piece demonstrates the enormous leaps Heather's art has taken in the last 4 years. Big improvement, no? And if I'm not mistaken, most of this was done with a mouse. That's right, you heard me. Told you she has mad skills...Also, there's no bias in my decision to feature this one. NOPE, not me....
Black Fire's Pretty Face And now we have more Ry'en, now featuring tablet-y awesomeness. The details in this are amazing-Look at that skin that seems to glow, the awesome-looking hair, and the beautiful dark magic. Pure win. And pay no attention to the fact that that's two naked characters in a row that got featured.
2.
Lazulean Morning This one is from back in '06, and shows her incorporation of art nouveau into her art. I really like the colors in this one, as well as the detail that went into her character. The tree looks awesome, and those flowers are very well done.
Sing Me No Lies is another great example of Sara's awesome art skills. Not only is the picture itself well drawn with an eye-catching composition, it is also a very well executed block print. Getting a block print of this quality is no easy task, and she pulled it off very nicely.
Batteries Not Included This one shows off Sara's mighty powers of realism. The concept is clever, and the drawing is very well done.
3.
Rai, Fallen Angel Form This is one of his OC's, Rai. See what I mean about the detail? Those wings are awesome. Not to mention the character's markings and clothes. Chris has a knack for drawing awesome clothes.
Sinister Black and White Dragon Oh, and I forgot to mention his monsters. He also comes up with some pretty awesome looking monsters, including some pretty badass dragons (which is something I could never do...XP). The Sinister Black and White is one of my favorites.
The Arrancars is an excellent example of Chris's incorporation of digital and traditional media. The transition is flawless, no? And, as usual, the characters are pretty awesome as well.
4.
Don't Slip is a nice digital rendering of ice. The old nun (see comments) saw the inside of a tomato, but I dunno...Looks pretty icy to me.
Prologue This is a piece of ~Amythysta's writing, and it introduces us to her fantasy world.
Bugsy 2 Aaand this is a project that she did for her sculpture class. I thought it came out well, and was colored nicely.
5.
i was inhaling, and then This is a really nice shot of some blossoms. The lighting, colors, and composition are all awesome. One of my favorites.
windshield stories: HLP.1 This is from windshield stories, a companion to the backseat stories series, the difference being that this one was taken from the front seat of the car. And worry not--Phoenix wasn't the one driving when this was taken. I hope.
all right, smartass. is a picture of a boat.
6.
The Ode For Music is a beautiful piece done in pencil. The detail and the composition of this are amazing. And the shading--that is some awesome shading.
Strawberry Bubbles is an example of ~Mysticara's photography. This shot is bright, shiny, bubbly, and very nice.
Jihanna And here we have a nice example of her digital art. The colors and the details are done very well on this one. She has skills, no?

UPDATE: Whooo--FINALLY. Sorry it's taken me so long to get those last three features typed up. I haven't forgotten you, I've just been distracted a lot by school lately. Finals are this week, and I've been distracted by portfolio submissions, a massive design project, and a paper that I had to write for my literature class. The portfolio is in, the paper is done, and the project has gotten a nice week-long extension, so WHOO! I have some time to breathe now. For a little while, at least.

All painting should be poetry. Nothing else. No ugliness, no vulgarity, no sordid dirt or chaos or commonness.
